Do the products we use have to stress natural systems? Could we create new systems and develop new materials that serve a purpose and could at end of life regenerate and restore nature? In nature, there is no waste, by-products from one activity becomes food or material for another organism or system. In this this session we learn how combining a look from the cellular level of potential materials with an eye on the global scale to identify impact will enable the development of materials consistent with a circular economy. Within the session, we will also take a deep dive into plastics through a solutions lab to examine the ways to reduce the environmental destruction of this ubiquitous material – through old habits and new innovations.
