<div class="ExternalClass84B69C55DD6F4540A53DD563666C590A"><p>Janez is co-chair of UNEP International Resource Panel that aims at steering society away from over-consumption, waste and ecological harm to a more prosperous future, and a Partner at SYSTEMIQ, a systems change company that partners with business, finance, policy-makers, and civil society to make economic systems truly sustainable. Janez holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia and has held numerous research and leadership positions for the Republic of Slovenia - followed by his appointment as the European Commissioner responsible for Science and Research (2004-2010) and Environment (2010-2014). During his tenure, Janez provided policy-makers with the best available science and information to help decouple economic growth from the unsustainable use of natural resources and continues to serve as a special advisor to the current Commissioner for Environment.</p><p>In 2015, Janez received the Fortune Award for Circular Economic Leadership and the Hans-Carl-Von-Carlowitz-Award for his courageous, open-minded, and international work towards the idea of the circular economy in Europe. </p><p> <em>Keynote: Are We On Track to Create a Circular Future? | 10:00 am PST</em> <br></p></div>
